So, when does the movie come out? It is only too obvious that everyone was spared in order to prepopulate a new Soprano's movie.
I am torn by this. As a longtime fan and viewer, I have learned to expect David Chase to deliver the least likely ending for his story arcs, but I was led to believe this was the last Sopranos entry. And, knowing Tony Soprano is way beyond redemption, I anticipated he would either die - or vanish into some Witness Protection wallpaper.
On the other hand, this open-ended denouement leads me to believe I may see more of the outstanding writing that has made the series so popular. I do remember, however, that The X Files tried a similar concept and failed miserably.
Bottom line: I feel used and disappointed that there was no just punishment dealt to the Soprano family. Everyone is still alive to sell popcorn and ultimately disappoint.
